VIKING / Viking
Viking was founded in 1920 in Norway by Peter Matthias Lovde. Shortly after its founding, the company began developing an excellent rubber product called ``Galosh,'' which is perfectly waterproof and makes life more comfortable for people in Norway during the harsh winters.
Eventually, the company began producing rubber boots and work boots, and gradually the high functionality of Viking boots spread among people, and they came to be used not only by farmers but also by fishermen, forestry workers, and various explorers. I did.
Even now, 100 years after our founding, what we value is that even though our technological capabilities have improved and we have become able to respond to people's needs, we still maintain the same basic spirit as when we were founded.
We consider the logo mark to be very important as something that expresses the soul of the brand. Behind this is our mission to be a company that is ``rooted in the earth,'' and to ``make footwear that can withstand harsh use, is extremely durable, and can withstand the harsh natural environment.'' Our logo reflects our desire to be humble and not try to make ourselves look bigger than we are capable of.
The origin of the word "Viking" is said to be "people from the Bayken", meaning people from the bay area around the Oslo Fjord in southeastern Norway. It is recognized as a word associated with meanings such as ``wild, full of courage, courageous, and active''. Since our founding, we have continued to make shoes suitable for the Nordic environment. That feeling and work have always been and will never change.
