Alaska Leather is an artistic shoulder leather made by La Perla Azzurra in the Santa Croce district of Italy, characterized by its waxed grain surface. It has a slightly soft texture due to the natural graining (shrink) and oiling, but the fibers are denser when pressed during the back treatment process, giving it a firm finish.
In terms of the physical properties of the leather, it is vegetable tanned and dyed, and the 'Vacchetta' method is used to infuse the leather with oil, so the more you use it, the more the color will develop a richer taste and a natural luster, allowing you to enjoy the changes that occur over time (aging).
Natural graining (shrink) processing results in different expressions depending on the location, such as "large grain," "small grain," or "almost no grain" even within a single piece of leather. Also, the graining varies from piece to piece. Some pieces have a strong grain, while others have very little grain. Please understand that no two pieces are exactly alike, and that this is an individuality.
Due to the waxing process, the leather will initially appear whitish due to the wax on the surface, but the more you use it, the more the wax will penetrate into the leather due to friction, and the color inside will appear along with the luster.
