STAY ON THE COUCH / At-home music oriented A psychedelic folk band formed by four classmates and their friends while enrolled as exchange students at a university in Tokyo.
Formed by TAUPE LEE, ANDREY GADZHIEV, SOPHIA OKAZAKI, and Katsugu Gen (only Japanese member, and left upon graduation) .
The band was formed because they became friends with Jimmy Wang, Shinichi Chiba, and others due to their inclination towards Asian action movies from the 1970s. Although he doesn't feel that influence on his unique and beautiful musical style, which features an impressive falsetto voice, he always says that it is ``a very important part of the band.'' The members share an introverted personality and are extremely sensitive to pressure, which is why they are known for being extremely reluctant to perform live, in contrast to the constant release of music.
Perhaps due to this influence, they are very particular about recording formats and sound production, and many of their songs are difficult to reproduce live. ``I want people to listen to our music on their home stereo, not in a place like this,'' and ``I've never wanted to do a live show in the first place,'' were the MC's comments, which caused problems and led to them temporarily not performing at music festivals in Europe and the US. (He has officially apologized and is currently appearing as much as possible).
The band's name comes from their ``love to laze around on the couch at home and enjoy movies and music.''
The company sells merchandise with the theme of "cozy home," starting with T-shirts and stickers, mugs and blankets, and in the past has even expanded to original sofas, coffee tables, TVs, and audio equipment.
