The idea of ``Zen'' rapidly spread among young people on the West Coast in the 1950s.
It can be said that Jack Kerouac's ``Zen Hippie'', Gary Snyder's ``Endless Mountains and Rivers'', and Alan Watts' philosophy are derived from this. Musician Robbie Bashaw realized he was the reincarnation of Matsuo Basho and even changed his name to Bashaw. Fernando Wanty, a poet and accomplished hiker, fused ``haiku'' and ``hike.'' This work, ``Zen Hiker'', is a groundbreaking album in which Fernando composes haiku in poor Japanese with avant-garde music in the background. The name "One Tea" is of course an homage to Issa Kobayashi.
